Notes On The Modern Classic Tale, Chocolat

Chocolat, a captivating and uplifing tale by author, Joanne Harris has become a staple of my holiday celebrations.

Vianne, who opens a Chocolaterie in a small, stuffy town inspires in her friends and customers the yearning to be different. She gives them the courage to indulge, enjoy life, live a little. Not sure what to think, the townspeople wonder is it Vianne's chocolat confections alone that are helping to reconnect them with their long-ago abandoned innocence and individualism. Or rather, is it Vianne herself who is endowed with the mysterious powers and will the town reject her good intentions?

This holiday season, take time to watch this movie or read the book to warm your heart and experience the transformation of small town who learned the power of unconditional love and acceptance.
