Well, it's finally here.... The 6 week break from work that has been 10 years in the making. I always thought I'd be off to somewhere exotic like a Mediterranean cruise or a visit to the real Eiffel Tower, but I'm very happy to be home sharing time with the family. Ashley is starting a new adventure in her life with her new job at the spa. I know she's also really looking forward to enrolling in Medical Assisting school, a career that will suit her nicely. Lindsey is enjoying life as a PHS Senior and is concentrating on soccer, studies and her social life. How the heck did my babies grow up so fast? :::SIGH::: Fastforward to late November when the cycle starts anew as my beautiful baby boy (yes, you Owen) will welcome his firstborn into the world and become a proud papa. :::OMG::: We are all so freakin' blessed!!
So, instead of a faraway dreamy vacation, We've got our hands busy ripping out carpet, pulling nails, scraping calk of trim boards and dreaming of a house where the walls aren't white and the furniture matches. I kept thinking to myself how wonderful it is do work on a project where I can actually make progress and see results! :::OH, WHAT A FEELING!::: In a few short weeks, we will have a pretty new bamboo floor to go with our new appliances, stairway and granite counters. Hopefully at the end of all this busywork, my sweetie and I will take some time to enjoy the fall colors with a weekend getaway or two.
When I return to work, I will walk into a reorg'd IT department and at this point I have no idea what job will have been assigned to me. I like change, and this one is long overdue. Let's just hope it comes with more than just directors changing titles and worker bees swapping chairs. All I ask is to be assigned somewhere where I can provide value and work for the greater good. Yes, believe it or not, there is a greater good in IT...
So here I am as everything is changing all around me, my babies are all now full-fledged adults with their own lives, my career is at a crossroads, and my home has been turned upside down. Fortunately, my focus has turned to all that is good and right in my life which happens to be right here at home....(within a 50 mile radius anyway)!!
Love to all!

PS: My girlfriends are helping me come up with alternatives to the "G-word", since this kid will have many official "G's" in his life - - So far I'm leaning towards Ya-Ya, Gi-Gi or Mi-Mi. Any other titles that come to mind? Maybe Grandma Darla can become Great Gi-Gi! =)
